- Make sure that you have turned off all laser sources before inspect fiber optic components, fiber connectors, or bulkheads
- Make sure that the fiber cable is disconnected at both faces .
- It is good to wear safety glasses if required .
- Never forget to inspect and clean fiber cable prior to mating .
- Cover the unplugged cable connectors with a protective cap .
- Use resealable bag or container to keep the unused protective caps so to minimize the possibility of transfer of dust and other contaminations to the fiber cable .
- Use swabs and tissues in a proper manner .
- Use connector housing (a plastic shell that is used to hold electrical contacts) to plug or unplug optical fiber
- Never inspect the fiber when the laser systems are on .
- Never touch the ends of the fiber connector .
- Never pull the fiber cable forcefully .
- Never reuse any cleaning cassette reel or tissue .
- Don’t try to do perform inspection and cleaning by yourself without any knowledge of the whole procedure because improper cleaning can damage the connector
